Introducing Voice Through Vision, the Morven Park Center for Civic Impact’s newest middle school offering!
There are many ways to advocate for change within our communities. Voice Through Vision examines the role art has played in the shaping of American history and encourages students to understand how visual imagery can be a powerful tool for sharing social messages that can lead to meaningful change.
Over the course of three class periods, students explore how art has always been used as a tool to persuade people and influence our thoughts around specific issues. The program culminates with a collaborative art project that lets students share their ideas about issues they want to see addressed. The students’ creations can be shared through social media to raise awareness and inspire people to take action.
Voice Through Vision and all of our middle school programs focus on building the skills students need to be active members of their community and democracy. Additional programs include:
- The Kitchen Table – 7th Grade
- Teen Advisors – 8th Grade
- Summer Leadership Retreat – all grades!
